Melanie Salemi to make Pro Mod debut in 2015

BUFFALO, NY (November 3, 2014)

The 2015 racing season will showcase the professional debut of Melanie Simmons Salemi in the class of Pro Modified. Salemi, a dedicated racer since 1996, has molded her life around the sport she has so much passion for. She will trade in her Top Dragster for a brand new 1968 Firebird, constructed by her brother-in-law, Jim Salemi, owner of G-Force Race Cars.

Melanie’s father, Roger, made his passion for the sport a family affair—by involving his children—and Melanie continues this tradition. With her family based in Orillia, Ontario Canada, and Melanie now living with her own young family and Buffalo, New York, the Toyrific Racing pit area is a traveling family reunion each time they are at the track.

After a successful multi-year venture in the ultra competitive Top Dragster class, Salemi looks forward to moving into one of drag racing’s most prominent classes: Pro Modified.

“I know there is going to be a steep learning curve for my debut in Pro Modified, but I’m ready for the challenge. I have the best people around me to learn from, and I need to experience and feel what it is like to handle a suspended car—I think that’s going to be my largest challenge. I ran 3.80’s in my dragster last year, and I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel.”

2015 will see Melanie and her Toyrific Racing team compete in both Canada and United States. With three races in the NAPA Ultimate Showdown series in Canada, the IHRA Nitro Jam in Grand Bend, Ontario, and a full schedule of US dates on the PDRA Series, the Toyrific team will be plenty busy.

Simmons Salemi says she also has some off-track goals for 2015, “I plan to continue to operate the racing team on a professional basis—which includes promoting my sponsors and supporting any of the organizations we compete with. I will also continue to provide a professional and friendly atmosphere in my pit area for my sponsors fans, family, and friends.”

Support for Salemi and this new team will continue to come from Delta Faucet Canada, G-Force Race Cars Inc., MSR Performance, Jeff Pierce Race Car Tuning, RS Performance Auto Service, Jackson Transportation Systems, ERD, NGK Spark Plugs, Castrol, Auto Sense, Auto Logic, Flatout Gaskets, and Resolution Racing Services Inc.
